How did you get involved with the Open Texas Conference?
I am still fairly new to Texas and the open education world that exists here. I thought that being involved in an Open Texas Conference Committee would help me get to know others in the state who support open education practices. I also thought that it would be a great opportunity to see what conversations were happening around the world of open in Texas.
What do you wish other people knew about the Open Texas Conference?
The Open Texas Conference is not just a "librarian conference." Advancing open practices takes a village and having perspectives outside of the library are just as important! As a librarian, I wouldn't be able to do my job successfully without the support of other faculty, administrators, instructional designers, etc., so it's important to hear from those other groups as well!
What would you tell someone who is thinking about presenting or attending Open Texas?
DO IT! Every time I attend a conference, presentation, or webinar that focuses on open practices, I ALWAYS walk away with something new to think about! You will also have the opportunity to chat with some truly amazing people!
